Moorland Safari

Join the RSPB and United Utilities to look for special moorland birds such as ring ouzels, curlews, peregrines and merlins. Learn about moorland management techniques that benefit both wildlife and water quality. With luck a ‘skydancer’ – the rare and enigmatic hen harrier – may be the highlight of the day!

Going for Goldies – searching for the elusive golden plover

Bowland’s open landscapes are home to some of our most elusive wading birds. Join us on this walk to search for the stunning golden plover and other special moorland edge birds whilst savouring the spectacular view down to the coast and Morecambe Bay..

Pasture to Plate – Sheep’s Milk and Cheese

Visit Chipping Laund Farm to see how the landscape is managed and look around the sheep-milking parlour at one of the UK’s leading producers of sheep’s milk. There will be an opportunity to see the sheep milking in progress during the linked event ‘Creamy cheese trail & cheese making demonstration.’

Follow the 4 miles Creamy Lancashire Cheese Trail, based around Leagram Organic Dairy, followed by a cheese making demonstration at the dairy by well known cheese demonstrator Bob Kitching.
